Community Public Access Defibrillation (cPAD)

CHT is a charity that supports the cost effective installation of life saving defibrillation equipment into local communities. This may be just defibrillators, the defibrillator and Hi Viz box or just support for the local CFR schemes.

Following confirmation of the lack of any national or international standards for the colour, size or specification of boxes for defibrillators, CHT is please to be working with key stakeholders towards establishment of standards in these areas. In the menawhile, we have worked with ambulance trusts in the UK, and members of the public, and relevant charities to provide boxes that are robust, vandal resitant, safe and manufactured to key BSI standards. These boxes are highly visible and easily seen so as to enable the most rapid deployment of AEDs in an emergency.

The CHT can provide your community a vandal resistant heated box (IP65 rated) and a defibrillator. The box is high specification steel, and powder coated to prevent rust. It is screen printed with the key important information. Customised screen printing is available.

For coastal and mountain locations a special stainless steel box is available.

We can also arrange training to a national standard through recognised training organisations.

A wall sign is also available. This can be placed upon a nearby wall to indicate direction to the cPAD box. Window stickers are also supplied.

This website, and any downloaded information, is for information only on how to go about obtaining and installing your cPAD, and other relevant information. All copyrights and trademarks are recognised. All support for the cPAD will be undertaken by the village committee responsible and via standard manufacturers warranties. Your training organisation will only be responsible for the initial awareness training and not for the functioning or maintenance of the AED. Please do not send any monies to CHT until you have registered your scheme, and have agreement from the local ambulance service for the establishment of a cPAD scheme. All schemes must be registered with the local ambulance service (CHT will also undertake this or you can do via this site, but this does not remove responsibility for you to notify the local ambulance service of your AED location). 999/112 (ambulance) must always be called prior to using a cPAD equipment. All schemes will be asked to sign an agreement taking responsibility for their own fund raising and operation of the cPAD equipment. It is your responsibility to maintain the equipment in working order and to make sure the local ambulance service is aware of this.
